How Solar Power is an effective tool in meeting energy crisis?

The global threat of climate change is concern not only for India, but also for the whole world. Excessive use of the conventional sources of power generation have polluted the environment to such an extent that we are experiencing variations in the monsoon patterns, increase in the surface temperature of the earth and rise in sea levels.
These extreme changes are the indication of coming disaster. There is urgent need to implement that source of energy which is pollution free and the solar electricity (Please read "Basics of Solar Electricity" &  "Why we should use solar electricity?") is one of them.  The solar power as the energy source has the various advantages:

(1) Implementing solar power will help in slowing down the process of Global warming

This renewable source of energy does not pollute the environment and does not cause Global warming. You will not find sparrow (a bird) now in Delhi and the surrounding areas. This species got extinct and the pollution is one of the main factors behind this extinction.

(2) It will help in saving money

The price of the electricity is growing on an average rate of 10% every year. And with the rising demand, the price rise will continue. Moreover, the power plants which are providing us electricity are very old and it will cost a lot to make them new and then run at their full efficiency (Please read "How much money is your solar roof top saving in different months of the year?" ). Solar electricity requires very little maintenance for many years. By implementing solar at your home you will be saving money as sun energy is free to everyone while the electricity from the electricity department is coming at a cost that too is increasing every year.

(3) Solar Power is reliable

The sun is present for last so many billion of years (Please read "13 interesting facts about the Sun") and it is going to remain there for another billion of years. Moreover,we know fairly well the rising time and the setting time of the sun on daily basis across world. We can also predict the amount of solar radiations that are received at the different location of the world (sometimes the cloudy weather is problem for solar). But overall, the energy from the sun is extremely reliable (Please read "The Solar Insolation levels of 10 largest countries (area wise) in the world").

(4) It provides energy security and independence

The high reliability of sun as an energy source gives a sense of security. Moreover, once you install solar panels at your roof top, you have become energy independent. This energy is free to all of us irrespective of financial status. This is nobody’s monopoly.

(5) Solar Power is water efficient

Do you know that water plays a crucial role in producing electricity from fossil fuels?
An approximately of 90-100 litres of water is required to produce 1KWHr of electricity from fossil fuels. The water is used to produce heat to run the turbines, to remove pollutant from the exhaust of the power plant and keeping the power plant cool. The solar PV power uses almost 15 times less water than the coal power.
Therefore, we can say that solar power is very much water efficient.
