None of us can survive without selling. Your present position in this world is all because of the extent of selling you are doing.
Selling from my point of view is letting the world know about yourself and the things associated with you. Since childhood to all our whole life, we do sales through our words, expressions, emotions, etiquettes, and work (I would call them as the modes of selling) so that we get well accepted in the society and can leave our mark.
If you are working on something say designing some product and you do not let people know about it. No one will come to know about it and the efforts will get unnoticed as you have done nothing.
It is found that people, although less intelligent, who expresses more through the above-mentioned mode of selling achieve more success than those who are intelligent but not as expressive in selling as them.
So, you should try every mode of selling to let the world know about your efforts and the product. By now you must have understood that surviving is actually all about selling and the extent of selling is the metrics of the quality of life.
Sales is important and everyone should do it effectively as it opens doors to many opportunities like:
1. Problem-Solving Quality Product
The foremost thing that you need to do is to decide what you want to sell. The chosen product or the service should be like that it solves the problem of the people of the society. For example, if you offer people a solution to paying their electricity bills through your website while sitting at home. They will obviously prefer it as this option saves their time of commuting and standing in a long queue. Look for the common problems people are facing in and around your society. And try to find innovative solutions using technology which can save money, time and provides comfort. Sometimes, acting as a platform between the existing product and the customer is advisable than design the new product and building its market.
2. Effective E-mail Marketing
This sales strategy can be very effective if we use technology and make some changes in the way of sending e-mails. The e-mail automation is an important marketing tool which helps in designing an attractive e-mail using various templates, scheduling its time and frequency will keep the customer engaged and increases the chances of conversion. It is true that you e-mail to those who subscribe to your newsletter. But not all of them share the same interest. Try to group them in different categories like based on their age, demographics, the area of interest and then design e-mails matching their requirements. This strategy will be more fruitful than just clubbing all the e-mails ids under one group and mass e-mailing them without actually scrutinizing their actual needs. Yes, it will be a bit time consuming but this the right way of knowing your customers. I’ll let you know, for example, your online store sells branded clothes and you have a special offer for women on women’s day. You stuffed all the e-mail ids (women and men) under one group and mass mailed the same content to all of them which may not impact equally to both the sexes. In this particular case, you should separate women ids from the men’s ids and design different content for both keeping in mind their state of mind.
3. Social Sharing of your Business
Always keep your business in the first place while sharing anything in social media. Sharing and discussing with people about the products, their quality and the features will help you in gaining more customers. Join different social groups whose interest and needs match with your products. Share relevant links, explaining the uniqueness, and the offers of your products. Remember to keep a deadline on your offers as it creates a sense of emergency in the mind of the customers and is very effective in driving the sales.
4. Re-targeting the Existing Customers
Design separate e-mail or do separate conversation with your existing customers. Ask feedback about your product and services and at the same time request them to suggest methods or measures to improve them. Inform your existing customers about the launching of the second product explain them its features and practicality in their lives. Always offer an additional value to them by offering extra discount in terms of money or offering free service for an extended period of time than the normal one. This offer will make them feel special.
Okay, one thing that I would like to quote here is that ultimate sales are not about how much effort you put in designing the product but it is about how you make your customer feel through your product. Don’t misinterpret that your product your product should not have quality or the features. It is found that sometimes the good product may not appeal to the audiences as it fails to strike the right emotion in the mind of the customers. For example, a recently opened online store can drive more sales (though it does have high-quality products) by making their customers feel special by offering customized products and extra discount on the special occasions like their birthdays, anniversaries etc.
To master this art of selling you should always be a continuous learner, problem solver, target oriented and possess soft skills while communicating with your customers.
