Trust
I can say that the "Trust" is the strong feeling of predicting the behaviour of a person as per your expectations. You must be a trustworthy person in the eyes of your customer and mere showing it will not serve the purpose. You must have clear set of principles which are designed to offer  value to your customers. The selfish motives are often short-lived and can easily be seen by your customers.
The business processes are changing very fast with the advent of the new technologies which demand the change in the personality traits of the leaders focusing more on the emotional quotient, authentic relationships and the trust in the (solar) business.

(1) Trust is a 2-way interchanging relationship

Two parties often creates a bond of the Trust, one is the Trustee and other is the Trustor and these two terms are often interchangeable between the two parties. For example when people buy things from you they trust your product; here you become trustee and people are the trustors. When you deliver the product on credit you become trustor your customeris a trustee, you trust him that he will pay you in time.
  • When both parties play their roles sincerely and effectively, the trust remains and relationship builds up.
  • When either party stop playing its role effectively, the trust fades out and the relationship ends. Also, there is no trust without risk and when you verify then you are not trusting.

(2) Trust is based on the past behaviour

Actually, the level of the trust is the product of your past behaviour. We trust something because of the consistency in the performance of a person or a company. Today, I can eat Cadbury chocolate with my eyes closed because I trust this brand which the company has earned through its consistent performance over the years.  A kid can eat anything from his mother’s hand because of the trust between them. So the past behaviour helps in building the trust.

(3) How to Trust when there is no past behavior?

Even in the everyday life, one cannot move ahead without trusting each other.
  • I am eating in the restaurant trusting that it will offer me good food and the same time the restaurant owner is trusting me that I will pay the amount.
  • I am boarding a train or a bus trusting that I will reach office in time
You can say in the business terms that it is hard to drive any transaction between the two parties without the element of trust in it.
As a solar entrepreneur, when you do not have any data on the past behaviour of the customer, then the following activities can help you out in building the trust between you and the customer
  • Always talk in details and know each other’s requirements
  • Understand the mutual terms and the conditions
  • Understand the payment terms and the delivery process
These initial activities will help in developing the better understanding between both the parties and will create the foundation of the first level of Trust.

(4) Persuade your clients to Trust you

Again as an entrepreneur, you should persuade them to trust you and your business through fair business practices, better & quality products, quick & prompt service and the genuine marketing efforts.
Specifically for the solar entrepreneurs, persuade your clients to get out of convenience of using the conventional energy since centuries and adopt new energy source that is Solar.
Make your efforts consistent, predictable and well defined, the trust will build up gradually.
So, keep making consistent efforts, you are going to win the trust and when the trust is earned, the customer can do anything for you.
