Why we should use solar electricity?

While analyzing the true cost of the electricity generated from the solar panels, we should look at the wider perspective, it is not just your electricity bill. Conventional source of energy like coal and petroleum have some serious social, economical and environmental impacts.
If we consider the cumulative cost, in addition to the cost of electricity, which accumulates due to the harmful emissions on account of processing, mining and transporting these fossil fuels, and which negatively impacts our health and environment.
I am sure that electricity derived from these fossil fuels will never be able to outweigh the benefits, neither in terms of economical benefit nor in terms of health & environmental benefits, that are derived when electricity is produced from the sunlight.

(1) Sunlight is free to all of us irrespective of any financial status

Any one can capture sunlight by using the proper solar configuration. Whereas, the electricity supply from the grid comes with a cost on the basis of the electricity units consumed.

(2) It is the clean source of energy:

It has almost no harmful impact on the environment and the climate. Whereas, the electricity produced from the fossil fuels have serious health and environmental hazards.

(3) It is a renewable source of energy:

The sunlight is limitless; anyone can produce electricity where there is sunlight. Whereas the sources of energy like coal and petroleum are non-renewable in nature and these are becoming scarce day by day because of the heavy consumption.

(4) Sunlight makes you independent

You are no more dependent on the electricity supply from the grid. You can generate you own electricity.

(5) Government provides incentive on the solar power installation:

The MNRE, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, provides 30% subsidy on the cost of the solar power system. Moreover, one can claim accelerated depreciation up to 80% of the cost in the first year if the installation is done for the commercial purpose.

(6) It can reduce your electricity bill

When you are using electricity produce from the free sun light that means you are saving units. The more you harness the solar energy, the more saving you will do.

(7) It is becoming more economical day by day

Due to the technological advancement to continuously improve the efficiency of the solar panels, the overall price of the solar system is further coming down. While on the other hand, the price of the grid supply is continuously increasing and it will increase more in the future.

(8) This source of energy is mobile:

One can dismantle the solar panels at its existing locations and can re-install at any other location where there is sun light. Whereas, this is not the case in the electricity supply from the grid.
On weighing the benefits of solar energy as compared to the grid supply, it is clear that solar energy is very optimum way of producing electricity. The potential to harness solar energy exists everywhere on the earth because the sun shines everywhere. Moreover, it is very reliable source of energy because the source of energy, the sun, has been around for billions of years and it will keep on producing light energy for another billion of years.
