So, what is average cost of solar roof top system in India ?

The Solar Panels constitute almost 60% of the total cost of the system. The cost of solar panel varies according to its quality. But it is highly recommended to purchases high quality solar panels, which will prove a good investment in long run. The good quality solar panels comes with 25 years performance warranty (by performance warranty we understand that for first 10 years of its operations the solar panel will perform with 90 % efficiency and form 11th to 25th, its performance will be 80%). Most of the cheaper and low quality solar panels do not come with this kind and extent of warranty, either they become obsolete in few years or their efficiency reduces considerably with time.
The good quality solar panels come with mechanical warranty of 5 years, which states that if there is any defect (like a solar cell is broken or the wire connecting the solar cells is broken) is detected within warranty period, then the company will replace it with the new panel of same wattage. The cheap solar panels do not have any mechanical warranty.

It protects the solar panels by blocking the reverse current flowing back to the them. It also regulates the voltage coming from solar panels to the battery. Although, we are not using the battery in our system but the battery can be added later, if required. You have to decide between the two technologies, PWM technology vs MPPT technology. I personally feel, that a small solar power system installed in India where temperature reaches to 45 degrees in most of its parts, it is better to opt for PWM solar charge controller. The cost of solar charge controller for 1 KW system is in between Rs. 4,000 - Rs. 5,000. Su – Kam offers both the technology of charge controllers.
(4) Mounting structure is a pillar with strong foundation (Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 2,500)
The mounting structure has to be strong enough to with stand the weight of the solar panels. The average weight of one 250 watt solar panel is around 22 Kgs, and for 1 KW system, the weight is 4 x 22 Kg = 88 Kgs. The panels must be fixed and fitted tightly with the frame otherwise the winds in India are capable enough to carry panels with itself. An iron mounting structure for 1 KW solar system, costs you around Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 2,500.
(5) Electrical wires, switches and fuses are the energy carriers (Rs. 2000 – Rs 2,500)
If your wires are not of good quality and proper gauge, then they may burn out and eventually you are out of power. A good quality wire with optimum gauge (please read "Determine the size of wire of the solar power system") for 1 KW solar system along with switches and fuses will cost you in between Rs. 2,000 - Rs. 2,500.
