We need to exercise our mind on daily basis to keep it sound and healthy, just like we do physical exercise to keep our body fit and toned, so that it can perform effectively.
There are certain activities which when practiced on daily basis, will help our brain to yield better results.
(1) Always do the creative work first
Every morning, first try to accomplish your most important task of the day. Normally, we first check the e-mails, read the news etc. Our mind is very caprice, it tends to get distracted and starts imaging those things which we read and we get lost in those things so much that it takes considerate amount of time to get out of it and then resume the main activity of the day.
(2) Train your mind to be attentive
If you leave your mind free, it will result in nothing. We have to tether our thoughts or mind with a rope called attention. Earlier, I used to go the seminars only for the sake of attending it, without paying attention to what the speaker is saying in the seminar and by the end of it, I always came out with nothing gained out of it. This activity had made my mind so lazy that when I decided to give full attention in the next seminar, I found it very difficult to concentrate but gradually things started happen for better. The gist is that one should practice doing things with attention, it makes the mind more active and creative.
(3) Teach your mind to do business communication in the simple words
Our brain always tries pretending that we are very good in services, and in its efforts, it starts designing or garnishing vague and complex statements which confuse the customer and he hesitates to communicate further. Always do your business communication in simple and precise words which conveys a clear meaning to the customer or client. Like, I say that we are very much concerned about the environment and we provide solar energy solutions to our clients. Or simply I can say, we manufacture solar lanterns and do solar power installation. The latter statement conveys a clear meaning to the customer about my services.
(4) Exercise time allocation
Being an entrepreneur, you are managing almost all the activities of the enterprise by yourself. The time allocation or devotion to each activity like marketing, research, personal relationship building, and team building etc on daily basis is a very important task. Our mind generally finds it hard to transit from one activity to another activity and this transition time increases if you are not prepared. Keeping small targets in each activity and try to accomplish them on daily basis will help in reducing the transition time. When you accomplish your target in one activity, you feel good and will not find it difficult to transit to next activity. For example, I keep a target of talking to 20 prospects daily, reading latest development in my field and personally meeting at least one prospect or client, this preparation helps me in reducing the activity transition time.
(5) Tell your mind to be time specific
Our mind tends to generate those thoughts which help it to escape from accountability. For example, a supplier calls me and asks to spare some time for personal meeting, I simply say that I am very busy and we can meet some time later. This is open statement with no accountability, the poor supplier is now figuring out the date and time by himself to call me. I could have said that I am very busy for next 5 or 6 days, we can meet up on next Saturday or Sunday. But before saying this statement, my mind has to re-collect my entire schedule and then work out or calculate the free time available for the meeting. The specific reply always scores well in building a true relationship. These activities, not confined to businesses only but can obviously be exercised in one’s personal life, once implemented on daily basis, will help in yielding better results.
